Dorothy Edwards (born November 6, 1914 – died August 8, 1982) was an English writer. She is famous for her My Naughty Little Sister book series. She also wrote the novel The Witches and the Grinnygog (1981).

About Dorothy Edwards
Dorothy Violet Ellen Brown was born on November 6, 1914. Her birthplace was Teddington, near London. Her father taught her to read when she was very young. She wrote her first story at just four years old!
As a young adult, her stories, poems, and articles were published. In 1942, she married Francis P. "Frank" Edwards. They had two children, Jane and Frank. Dorothy Edwards passed away in 1982. She was buried next to her younger sister, Phyllis Mary F. Brown. Phyllis, known as "Pip," was the inspiration for the Naughty Little Sister books.
Her Famous Books
The My Naughty Little Sister Series
Dorothy Edwards' most popular stories are about My Naughty Little Sister. She got the idea for these books in 1950. She wanted to keep her daughter, Jane, entertained during a family holiday.
She wrote five books in this series. The well-known artist Shirley Hughes drew the pictures for them. These books tell fun stories about a little sister who is sometimes a bit mischievous.

Besides the Naughty Little Sister books, Dorothy Edwards wrote many other children's stories. She also created picture books for younger readers.

Awards and Recognition
In 1981, Dorothy Edwards' novel The Witches and the Grinnygog was nominated for the Whitbread Award. This award is for children's literature. The book is about friendly witches in modern Britain. Later, this novel was even made into a television show!
