The Downtown Miami Multiple Resource Area is a special group of historic buildings in Downtown Miami. These buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a list of important places in the United States that are worth protecting because of their history.

What is a Multiple Property Submission?

When many buildings in one area are important for the same historical reasons, they can be listed together. This is called a Multiple Property Submission (or MPS). It helps to recognize a whole neighborhood's history, not just one building. The Downtown Miami area has many buildings that tell the story of how the city grew.

Historic Buildings in Downtown Miami

Many buildings in Downtown Miami were studied to see if they were historic. Most of them were added to the National Register of Historic Places. However, a few buildings were not listed at first because their owners did not agree. One example is the Shrine Building (Miami, Florida), built in 1930. Another was the Sears, Roebuck and Company Department Store (Miami, Florida). This Sears building was actually the first Art Deco building in the county, built in 1929. It was later added to the National Register of Historic Places.
