The Downtown Winters Historic District, also known as the Main Street Historic District, is a special area in Winters. It's located in Yolo County, California. This district includes a block of Main Street between Railroad Avenue and First Street. It was once the main shopping and business area of Winters.
The district has many old buildings. These buildings were constructed between the 1870s and 1912. There are twenty buildings in the district. Thirteen of these are considered important to its history.
Some of the most famous buildings include the DeVilbiss Hotel. It was built in 1899. A.A. Cook from Sacramento designed it. Another important building is the Bank of Winters Business Block. This building was built in 1904. It stands across from the DeVilbiss Hotel. Two very old buildings date back to when Winters was founded in the mid-1870s. These are the Opera House and the Chulick Market. Most other buildings were built in two main periods: the 1890s and from 1906 to 1912.
