Doyon is a small, unincorporated community located in Ramsey County, in the state of North Dakota. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

History of Doyon

Doyon has a simple but interesting history. A post office was opened in Doyon in the year 1900. This post office was important for people living there to send and receive mail. It stayed open for a long time, until it finally closed in 1993. The community of Doyon was named after an early settler, Charles H. Doyon. He was one of the first people to settle and live in that area.

Traveling Through Doyon

Even though Doyon is a small place, a famous train route passes right through it! The Amtrak train called the Empire Builder travels on tracks belonging to the BNSF Railway. This train connects major cities like Seattle, Portland, and Chicago. However, the Empire Builder train does not stop in Doyon. If you wanted to catch this train, the closest station is about 17 miles (27 km) to the west. This station is located in the city of Devils Lake.
