Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc., often called DPSU, was a company that made soft drinks. It was based in Plano, Texas. The company was formed on May 19, 1986. This happened when two companies, Dr Pepper, Inc. and The 7 Up Company, joined together.
They merged because both companies had faced financial difficulties. Also, the government had stopped Dr Pepper from merging with Coca-Cola. The merger of Dr Pepper and 7 Up changed who owned the rights to sell their drinks in different countries.

How Dr Pepper/Seven Up Changed Hands
Joining Cadbury Schweppes
In 1995, Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc. was bought by a big company called Cadbury Schweppes plc. Another group, the Carlyle Group, also helped with the purchase. This happened because Dr Pepper/Seven Up had a lot of debt. The sale was for about $1.7 billion. This purchase made Cadbury Schweppes a very large soft drink company. It was the biggest one that didn't have a cola drink as its main product.
Becoming Part of a Bigger Group
In early 2006, Cadbury Schweppes bought the rest of Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc. and its bottling group. All the parts of Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc. became part of a larger company called Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages. This new group also included other well-known brands like Mott's and Snapple. The bottling part of Dr Pepper/Seven Up was combined with other bottling companies. It was then renamed the Cadbury Schweppes Bottling Group.
Spin-Off and New Ownership
In May 2008, Cadbury Schweppes made a big change. It separated its Americas Beverages business into a new, independent company. This new company was named the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. Cadbury Schweppes then changed its own name to Cadbury plc. Even though the company changed, Dr Pepper/Seven Up still exists as a brand name today.
Later, on July 9, 2018, another company called Keurig bought the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. This deal was worth $18.7 billion. The two companies combined and were renamed Keurig Dr Pepper. This new company started trading its shares on the New York Stock Exchange.
