The Dr Pepper Snapple Group was a big American company that made soft drinks. Its main office was in Plano, Texas. Since July 2018, it has been a part of a larger company called Keurig Dr Pepper.
Before it became the Dr Pepper Snapple Group, it was known as Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages. This was a part of the Cadbury company, which is famous for chocolates. On May 5, 2008, the beverage part of Cadbury Schweppes became its own separate company, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. The rest of Cadbury Schweppes stayed as Cadbury, focusing on sweets. The new Dr Pepper Snapple Group started trading its shares on the NYSE stock market on May 7, 2008.
Later, on July 9, 2018, another company called Keurig Green Mountain bought the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. The two companies joined together and became Keurig Dr Pepper. The very next day, the new combined company began trading on the NYSE under the new name "KDP."

The Story of Dr Pepper Snapple Group
How It Started and Grew
The story of Dr Pepper Snapple Group began with its parent company, Cadbury Schweppes. In 1995, Cadbury Schweppes bought the company that owned Dr Pepper/Seven Up. This was a big step in growing their drink business.
A few years later, in February 1998, they bought two more bottling companies. These were called Beverage America and Select Beverages. This helped them make and distribute their drinks even more widely.
In 2000, Cadbury Schweppes bought some very popular brands: Snapple, Mistic, and Stewart's Fountain Classics. They paid $1.45 billion for these. In October of the same year, they also bought RC Cola. These purchases added many well-known drinks to their collection.
Becoming Independent
In 2006 and 2007, Cadbury Schweppes bought even more bottling companies. This included the Dr Pepper/Seven Up Bottling Group. This was important because it meant Dr Pepper Snapple Group could bottle many of its own drinks. Before this, other companies like Pepsi and Coca-Cola bottlers sometimes stopped selling Dr Pepper and Snapple products. By owning their own bottling plants, Dr Pepper Snapple Group could make sure their drinks were always available.
In November 2007, Cadbury Schweppes announced that its drinks business would become a separate public company. This happened on May 5, 2008, when the Dr Pepper Snapple Group officially became its own company.
New Partnerships and Changes
The Dr Pepper Snapple Group also had some interesting partnerships. For example, they held the naming rights for the Dallas Stars hockey team's practice building, which was called the Dr Pepper Arena. They also made deals to sell their non-alcoholic drinks at the arena.
In 2008, the company bought a small part of Big Red, Inc. This company makes popular drinks like Big Red, NuGrape, and Nesbitt's.
The company also worked on being more environmentally friendly. By 2014, they had reached a goal of using less plastic in their bottles. They reduced the amount of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic by over 60 million pounds between 2007 and 2014.
In November 2016, Dr Pepper Snapple announced plans to buy Bai Brands for $1.7 billion. Bai Brands makes healthy drinks. Dr Pepper Snapple had already bought a small part of Bai Brands in 2015.
Joining Keurig Dr Pepper
The biggest change happened on January 29, 2018. Keurig Green Mountain, a company known for coffee makers, announced it was buying the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. This was a huge deal worth $18.7 billion. The new combined company was named Keurig Dr Pepper.
The deal was completed on July 9, 2018. Larry Young, who was the President and CEO of Dr Pepper Snapple Group, retired from those roles. He then joined the board of directors for the new Keurig Dr Pepper company.
