Occupation physician, political activist

Draga Ljočić Milošević (1855–1926) was a very important Serbian doctor. She was also a strong supporter of equal rights for women and a fairer society.

In 1872, Draga made history. She became the very first Serbian woman to be accepted at the University of Zürich in Switzerland. This was a huge step for women's education.

During the war between Serbia and the Ottoman Empire, she worked as a medical helper for the army. She even earned the rank of a Lieutenant.

In 1879, she completed her studies. This made her the first Serbian woman to become a medical doctor. She was allowed to practice medicine in Serbia starting in 1881. Draga was also a key leader in the new movement for women's rights in Serbia. Her brother, Đura Ljočić, was one of the first members of a political group called the People's Radical Party.

Draga Ljočić was also the first female doctor to work during the Balkan Wars and World War I. At that time, only about a dozen women in all of Europe were working as doctors. This shows how special and brave she was.
