Dragon Wagon at RCDB |
The Dragon Wagon was a fun roller coaster that used to be at Indiana Beach, an amusement park in Indiana. It was a smaller coaster, often called a "kiddie coaster," perfect for younger riders.
This ride opened in 2014. It was the first new roller coaster at Indiana Beach since the Little Dipper, which closed way back in 1970. Dragon Wagon was one of four new rides added to the park that year. It was found in the Kiddyland area of the park. The Dragon Wagon was open for four years before it closed.
What Was the Dragon Wagon?
The Dragon Wagon was a type of roller coaster designed for families and younger kids. It was built by a company called Wisdom Rides. This coaster used a "Tire Lift" to get to the top. This means rubber tires pushed the cars up the first hill, instead of a chain.
History of the Dragon Wagon
In early 2014, Indiana Beach announced some exciting news. They planned to add seven new rides for the upcoming season. One of these new attractions was a special kiddie coaster named "Dragon Wagon."
This announcement came after the park shared that its older coaster, Galaxi, would be closing. Galaxi had been operating for 42 seasons.
Most of the new rides opened as planned for the 2014 season. However, the Dragon Wagon roller coaster faced some delays. It took a bit longer to build than expected. Finally, by late August 2014, construction was finished. The Dragon Wagon opened to riders, even though there were only a few operating days left in the season. The Dragon Wagon closed permanently after the 2018 season.
