The Dromana Historical Museum is a special place in Dromana, Victoria, Australia. It's like a time capsule! Volunteers from the Dromana and District Historical Society run the museum.
Their main goal is to save and share the history of Dromana. They also cover nearby places like Red Hill, Rosebud, McCrae, Main Ridge, Boneo, and Red Hill South.
What You Can See
The museum collects many interesting items from the past. They gather old photographs, postcards, letters, and other historical papers. These items tell the story of the area.
Photo Collection
The museum has a huge collection of about 3000 historical photos. These pictures show how the Mornington Peninsula area grew over time. You can see photos of old transport, farming life, fun activities, and schools.
Unfortunately, some important historical photos and WW1 medals were lost from the collection in 2018. The museum continues to care for its remaining treasures.
Special Exhibitions
The museum works hard to make history exciting for everyone. In 2015, they decided to update their exhibition area. They wanted to attract more visitors and new members.
Dromana the Delightful
The result of their hard work was a new permanent exhibition. It is called Dromana the Delightful. This modern display has even inspired other historical societies. They want to create similar engaging exhibitions in their own museums.
