Dry Fork is a small stream in Missouri, a state in the United States. It flows through three different counties: Jefferson, St. Francois, and Ste. Genevieve. This stream eventually joins a larger one called Plattin Creek.

Where Does Dry Fork Start and End?

The journey of Dry Fork begins in the eastern part of St. Francois County. It starts high up, at about 1040 feet (around 317 meters) above sea level. This starting point is called its headwaters.

From there, the stream flows towards the northeast. It crosses into Ste. Genevieve County, passing near a community known as Goose Creek Lake. The stream continues its path north through the western part of Ste. Genevieve County before entering Jefferson County.

Finally, Dry Fork reaches its end when it flows into Plattin Creek. This meeting point is just north of the Missouri Route T bridge.

Why is it Called Dry Fork?

The name "Dry Fork" is quite interesting! It was given this name because the stream often runs dry, especially during times of less rain. This means that sometimes, you might see just a dry streambed instead of flowing water.
