Duane Thomas started his professional boxing journey in 1979. He quickly showed his talent.

In 1983, Duane won his first major title, the USBA Light Middleweight title, by defeating Nino Gonzalez. This was a big step in his career. His biggest win came in 1986 when he won the vacant WBC Light Middleweight Title. He achieved this by beating a tough opponent named John Mugabi with a TKO (Technical Knockout) in the third round. This exciting fight happened at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Defending and Challenging for Titles
After winning the WBC title, Duane Thomas lost it eight months later to Lupe Aquino in France. He then tried to win the WBC Light Middleweight Title again in 1988, but he was defeated by Gianfranco Rosi. Even with these losses, Duane was known as a top boxer during his time.
