Dublin Pioneer Cemetery

The Dublin Pioneer Cemetery is a historic burial ground located in Dublin, California. It is found within Alameda County, California. This cemetery is where many of the first settlers of the area were laid to rest. These pioneers arrived during the exciting time of the 1849 California Gold Rush.

A Look at Dublin Pioneer Cemetery

The Dublin Pioneer Cemetery was officially started in 1859. It is located right behind Old St. Raymond's Church. This church itself is a very old and important building in Dublin's history.

Who is Buried Here?

Many early settlers of Dublin are buried in this cemetery. These were the brave people who came to California looking for a new life. They helped build the towns and communities we know today.

One of the first people buried here was Tom Donlon. He sadly passed away while helping to build Old St. Raymond's Church. He was buried after the church was officially opened. However, there is one headstone in the cemetery that is even older, dating back to 1852.

How the Cemetery Changed Hands

Over the years, the cemetery's ownership has changed. In 1964, a group called Dublin Cemetery, Inc. took over its care. Later, sometime after 1990, the City of Dublin became responsible for the cemetery.

As of 2006, there were 426 graves within the Dublin Pioneer Cemetery. It is still an active cemetery today, meaning new burials can still take place there. It remains an important historical site for the city of Dublin.
