About the Duida Grass Finch
The Duida grass finch is a type of grassland bird. It prefers dry savanna habitats. Savannas are like large grasslands with scattered trees. These areas have distinct wet and dry seasons.
Where it Lives
This bird's home is very remote. Cerro Duida is a high, isolated mountain. It is often called a "tepui." Tepuis are flat-topped mountains with steep sides. They are common in the Guiana Highlands of South America.
Discovery and Population
Scientists first found the Duida grass finch in 1928 and 1929. They collected a few specimens during these years. Since then, it has been hard to study them. The remote location makes it difficult for researchers to visit.
Even though it's rarely seen, experts believe its population is stable. This is because its habitat is so isolated. It means there are not many threats from humans. The Duida grass finch lives in a natural, untouched environment.
