History of the Science Centre
How It Started
The Dundee Science Centre first opened its doors in July 2000. It was one of the special projects created for the new millennium. Building the centre cost around £5 million.
A New Name
For many years, the centre was known as Sensation. But in 2013, it changed its name to Dundee Science Centre. This new name clearly tells everyone what the centre is all about!
Recent Changes and Reopening
In 2020, the Dundee Science Centre had to close for a long time. This was because of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this closure, the ground floor of the centre got a huge £2 million renovation. The goal was to make the area more accessible for visitors with special needs. The centre happily reopened in June 2021. When it reopened, new safety rules were in place, like wearing masks and washing hands.
