Dustin Lynch's Early Life and School
Dustin Charles Lynch was born in Tullahoma, Tennessee, on May 14, 1985. He grew up in this town.
He finished high school at Tullahoma High School in 2003. Later, in 2007, Dustin graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned a degree in biology. While at college, he also played on the school's Men's Golf Team.
Dustin chose Lipscomb University because it was close to the Bluebird Café. This famous place in Nashville is where many songwriters perform. He wanted to play there and learn how to write songs while he was in college. Even though he thought about going to medical school, Dustin decided to follow his dream of a music career instead.
Dustin Lynch's Music Career Journey
Dustin Lynch shared that he started playing the guitar when he was about 8 or 9 years old. However, he stopped for a while. He picked up the guitar again when he was 15.
When he was 16, he performed at an "open mic night" at the Bluebird Café in Nashville. The audience really liked his performance. This encouraged him to start his own band.

Dustin Lynch first signed with Valory Music Group. Then, in late 2011, he moved to Broken Bow Records. He joined this new label because one of its leaders also moved there.
He released his very first song, "Cowboys and Angels," in January 2012. Dustin wrote this song with Josh Leo and Tim Nichols. Around the same time, a magazine called Country Weekly started playing his songs on its website.
His first album, also called Dustin Lynch, came out in August 2012. This album quickly became number one on the Top Country Albums chart. The second song from the album, "She Cranks My Tractor," became a top 20 hit in early 2013. After that, "Wild in Your Smile" was released and reached the top 30.
