The dwarf tyrant-manakin (also called the dwarf tyranneutes) is a small bird that belongs to the Pipridae family. It's known for being quite shy and living deep inside the forest.
Where it Lives and What it Likes
This bird can be found in most parts of the Amazon Basin, which is a huge area in South America. However, it doesn't live in the area east of the Rio Negro river.
The dwarf tyrant-manakin loves to stay deep inside the forest, usually in the middle layers of trees. It doesn't often go to the edges of the forest. Its favorite places are warm, wet lowland forests in subtropical or tropical areas.
What it Looks Like
The dwarf tyrant-manakin has a rather plain look. Its upper feathers are a dull olive-green color. As you look down its body, the color gets a bit lighter, turning into a yellow-olive shade on its belly. It also has a short tail.
How it Behaves
These birds are very quiet and don't move around much. They are often hard to spot because they stay still. However, they make a special two-note call that helps people know they are nearby. This unique sound is often the easiest way to find them in the dense forest.
