Dykeman's Spring is a special place in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. It is also known as Ainsworth Fish Farm and Asper Tract. This historic site is a fish farm where fish were raised.
The property has several important parts. These include the Dykeman manor house and a hatch house, both built in 1871. There are also two connected ponds and the Dykeman's spring itself. Two old archaeological sites are also part of the property.
The Dykeman manor house was first built around 1855. It was later updated and made bigger in 1871. This was done in the Italian Villa style. This style often includes fancy details and towers. The house is made of brick and has 2 1/2 stories. It has a special roof with a small, square tower called a cupola on top.
The hatch house is a two-story building made of limestone. It is about 31 feet wide and 36 feet deep. This building was used as a trout hatchery. A hatchery is a place where young fish are born and raised. This trout hatchery opened in 1871.
