Dylan Farrell (born 15 May 1991) is an Australian former professional rugby league player. He played as a centre and winger for the St. George Illawarra Dragons and South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL.

Early Life and Junior Rugby

Dylan Farrell was born on 15 May 1991, in Nowra, New South Wales. He is of Indigenous Australian background.

Dylan started playing junior rugby league for local teams. He played for the Culburra Dolphins and the Woy Woy Roosters. Later, he was signed by the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Dylan even has a tattoo of his hometown, Culburra, on his body.

Professional Playing Career

Dylan played for the North Sydney Bears in the S.G Ball team. He then joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs' NYC team. He played there in 2009 and 2010.

Starting Out (2010)

In 2010, Dylan made his first appearance in the NRL. This was in Round 22 of the 2010 NRL season for the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He played against the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium.

In his very first game, Dylan scored an amazing three tries! His team won a thrilling game 34-30 in extra time. He scored the winning try right at the end of the match. In his first season, Dylan scored 5 tries in 5 games. He was also named as a centre in the 2010 NYC team of the year.

Continuing His Journey (2011)

On 18 March 2011, Dylan signed a new contract with South Sydney. This kept him with the team until the end of the 2013 NRL season. He had a busy year in the 2011 NRL season. Dylan played in 23 matches and scored 12 tries for South Sydney.

Reaching the Finals (2012)

The 2012 NRL season was another strong year for Dylan. He played in all 27 of South Sydney's matches. He scored 8 tries during the season. His team made it to the preliminary final. They played against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs but lost 32-8 at ANZ Stadium.

Moving to a New Team (2013)

In May 2013, Dylan decided to join a new team. He agreed to a three-year contract with the St. George Illawarra Dragons. This new contract would start in 2014. In his last year with the Rabbitohs, Dylan played in 15 matches. He scored 6 tries for the team. He also spent some time playing for the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup. He played 9 games and scored 4 tries for them.

First Season with the Dragons (2014)

In February 2014, Dylan was chosen for the Dragons' first Nines team. He made his club debut for St. George in Round 1. This was against the Wests Tigers at WIN Stadium. His team won the game 44-24, and Dylan played at centre.

In Round 6, he scored his first try for St. George. This was against the Melbourne Storm at AAMI Park. Sadly, during that game, Dylan hurt his pectoral muscle. He got the same injury again in a New South Wales Cup match. This meant his season ended early. In his first year with St. George Illawarra, he scored one try in 6 games.

Final Season and Retirement (2015)

Dylan played in 13 matches for the club during the 2015 NRL season. He played as a winger and in the centres.

Near the end of the 2015 season, Dylan announced his retirement from rugby league. He had a serious and ongoing back injury that made it difficult to keep playing.

Life After Playing

After his playing career, Dylan Farrell transitioned into coaching. In 2018, he was appointed as the head coach for the Nowra-Bomaderry Jets. This allowed him to stay involved in the sport he loves.
