Dyllón Burnside's Career
Early Music Days
Dyllón Burnside started his career at age 12. He was the lead singer of a hip-hop and R&B boy band called "3D." He performed with his two cousins, and his mother managed the group. They toured with famous artists like Stevie Wonder and Rihanna. They also performed in big venues such as Madison Square Garden.
Exploring New Arts
After ten years, Dyllón wanted to try different kinds of performing arts. He felt it was important to explore what he loved, even if it was not what people usually expected. He decided to study music at the CAP21 conservatory. He moved to New York City and took acting and dance classes. He also earned a bachelor's degree in media studies and writing from The New School.
Broadway and TV Roles
While at CAP21, Dyllón starred on Broadway in 2014. He played the role of Anthony in the musical Holler if Ya Hear Me. He also appeared in NBC's Peter Pan Live! and HBO's High Maintenance. Dyllón performed in the musical Born For This by BeBe Winans in both Atlanta and Washington, D.C..
Producing and Teaching
Beyond acting and singing, Dyllón has also worked as a film producer. He helped create the award-winning short movie The Jump. He was also a theatrical producer for Hold Up The Light at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.. Dyllón enjoys teaching performing arts workshops. Dyllón Burnside has used his platform to support important causes. In 2018, he hosted a benefit concert with his Pose co-stars Billy Porter and Ryan Jamaal Swain. Recent Projects
In July 2021, around the time the final episode of Pose aired, Dyllón released a musical single. The song, titled Heaven, featured British singer Daley. It was written to celebrate LGBTQ+ love. In the fall of 2021, he returned to the Broadway stage. He was one of the main actors in the show Thoughts of a Colored Man.
Personal Life
Dyllón Burnside grew up on a ranch in Pensacola, Florida. His family raised farm animals there, including chickens, cows, horses, and pigs.
