Dyne Fenton Smith (born 21 July 1890, died 28 August 1969) was a famous English rugby union player. He played for his country, England, two times. He was also part of the very first official British Isles team. This team went on a special tour to South Africa in 1910.

Early Life
Dyne Fenton Smith was born in 1890 in a town called Hove in Sussex, England. He was the oldest son of Charles Edward Smith and Caroline Constance Fenton. His father worked in finance, and his mother was from Goodmanham, Yorkshire. Dyne had a younger brother named Leonard and a younger sister named Enid.
Rugby Journey
Dyne Fenton Smith played his club rugby for Richmond F.C.. He was a strong player in the "lock" position.
Playing for England
Dyne made his first big game appearance for England on January 15, 1910. This was against Wales at Twickenham. England won that game! He played for England one more time on February 12, 1910. This game was against Ireland and ended in a draw. These were his only games for England.
Joining the British Isles Team
Even though he only played twice for England, Dyne was chosen for a very special team. This team was the first official British Isles team. It was approved by the main rugby groups from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. In 1910, this team traveled to South Africa for a tour. Dyne Fenton Smith played in all three of the important "Test" matches on this tour.

- Against South Africa on August 27, 1910, in Port Elizabeth. Great Britain won 8-3.
- Against South Africa on September 3, 1910, in Cape Town. South Africa won 21-5.
Serving in World War I
Dyne Fenton Smith also served his country during the First World War. He was a lieutenant in the Royal Fusiliers, which is a part of the British Army. He was sent to France in 1915 to help in the war.
Later Life
Dyne Smith got married in 1911. For some time, he lived in a town called Walton-on-Thames. He even had a business there called Fenton Smith Bros. He passed away in 1969.
