The EFP Bridge is a historic bridge located in Hot Springs County, Wyoming. It crosses over Owl Creek. This bridge was built a long time ago, between 1919 and 1920, by a company called the Monarch Engineering Company from Denver.

The EFP Bridge is special because of how it was built. It's a type of bridge called a "camelback through-truss" bridge. This design uses strong steel beams in a zigzag pattern to support the road. The bridge is about 124 feet (38 m) long, which is roughly the length of two school buses! Its total length is 126 feet (38 m).

What Makes the EFP Bridge Special?

The EFP Bridge is a great example of how bridges were built using steel trusses. This way of building bridges was very common in the early 1900s. However, it's not used much anymore today.

The bridge stands on strong foundations made of sandstone. The part you drive on, called the deck, is made of timber (wood) and is about 15 feet (4.6 m) wide.

Becoming a Historic Landmark

Because of its unique design and age, the EFP Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The National Register is a special list of places in the United States that are important to history.

The EFP Bridge was one of forty bridges in Wyoming chosen for this list. These bridges together show how steel truss construction was an important part of bridge building history. Being on this list helps protect the bridge so people can learn about it for many years to come.
