A Look at the School's History

How EM Strasbourg Began

The school started in 1919. It was first called the European Institute for Higher Business Studies (IECS). It was created by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI). The CCI is a group that helps businesses grow.

Growing and Changing Over Time

In 1956, the IECS joined the University of Strasbourg. It also became part of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. This made it special because it was the only French business school connected to a traditional university.

In 1999, the school moved to a new, big building. This building is called the European Center of Management and Economics (PEGE). It is very large, covering about 26,000 square meters. That's like more than three football fields!

Becoming EM Strasbourg Business School

On October 12, 2007, the IECS joined with another school called the IAE of Strasbourg. Together, they formed the new school we know today: EM Strasbourg Business School.

In 2012, the school received a special "diversity" award. This award recognized that the school welcomes students from all backgrounds. It was the first public school in France to get this award.

In 2015, the school earned an important approval called AACSB accreditation. This means it meets high standards for business education around the world.

As of 2018, about 3,300 students were studying at EM Strasbourg Business School.
