Discovering Eagle City
Its Early Days
Eagle City has an interesting history. Before it was called Eagle City, this area was known as Baker Mills. This name came from a mill that was located there. A mill is a building that uses power, often from flowing water, to grind grain into flour or do other tasks.
In 1879, a post office was opened in the community. A post office is where people can send and receive letters and packages. When the post office was established, the name of the place changed to Eagle City. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1901.
