Earnest J. Wilson III, born on March 30, 1965, is a well-known American football coach. He currently works as the chief of staff for the Temple Owls team. He started this important job in 2024.
Before joining the Temple Owls, Coach Wilson was the head football coach at Minnesota North College – Vermilion, which is a junior college. He also coached the Arkansas Attack in Major League Football. He has been a head coach at several universities, including Savannah State University (2013-2015), Elizabeth City State University (2016-2017), and Defiance College (2021).

Coach Wilson's Career Journey
Earnest Wilson began his coaching career in 1990 at Allegheny College. During his time there, the 1990 Allegheny Gators football team won the NCAA Division III Football Championship. This was a great start to his long career in football.
Coaching College Teams
Coach Wilson has led several college football teams as their head coach. From 2013 to 2015, he was the head coach for the Savannah State Tigers in Georgia. After that, he coached the Elizabeth City State Vikings in North Carolina from 2016 to 2017. In 2021, he was the head coach for the Defiance Yellow Jackets in Ohio.
Coaching in Professional and Junior Leagues
In May 2022, Coach Wilson left his role at Defiance College. Soon after, it was announced that he would become a head coach for Major League Football in their 2022 season.
In 2023, Wilson was hired as the head football coach at Minnesota North College – Vermilion. He led the Ironhawks team during the 2023 season.
Current Role at Temple Owls
On June 4, 2024, Earnest Wilson was hired as the chief of staff for the Temple Owls. In this role, he helps manage the football program and supports the head coach and team.
