Club History and Achievements
The East Grinstead Cricket Club began its journey in 1857. Many years later, in 1989, something big happened: the cricket club joined forces with the nearby East Grinstead Hockey Club. Together, they formed a new organization called East Grinstead Sports Club Limited.
Moving to a New Home
After the merger, the cricket club sold its old playing field. They then moved to the hockey club's land, which was already owned by the new combined club. The money from selling the old cricket ground was used to build some fantastic new facilities. These included a modern pavilion (a building for players and spectators), a brand new cricket pitch, and a special artificial sand pitch for hockey.
Winning the League Title
The year 2017 was a very exciting one for the club. For the first time ever, the East Grinstead Cricket Club won the Sussex Cricket League. This was a huge achievement for them! That same year, they also did very well in the National Club Championship. They made it all the way to the semi-finals of this important competition, showing how strong their team had become. On their way to the semi-finals, they even beat a team called Bath in the quarter-finals.
