East Wenona was a small village that once existed in Illinois, United States. It was located in Osage Township, within LaSalle County. This village was right on the eastern edge of the city of Wenona, which is in Marshall County.
The Story of East Wenona
East Wenona had a short but interesting history. It was officially started, or incorporated, on May 7, 1908. When a place incorporates, it means it officially becomes a town or village with its own local government.
A Look at Its Population
After it became a village, East Wenona's population was counted. In 1910, just two years after it started, 367 people lived there. By 1920, the population had slightly decreased to 333 residents.
When East Wenona Disappeared
Sadly, East Wenona didn't last very long as an official village. It disincorporated (meaning it stopped being an official village with its own government) sometime between 1925 and 1927. This means it was only an active village for about 17 to 19 years. Even after it disincorporated, East Wenona was still shown on the 1940 Census map for LaSalle County.
