Easton, Ohio facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Easton is a small, quiet place in Wayne County, Ohio. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's not officially a city or a town with its own local government, but it's still a recognized area where people live.

A Look Back: Easton's History

Easton wasn't always called Easton! It was first known as Slankerville. This name was given when the area was laid out in 1843. To "lay out" a place means to plan its streets and lots, like drawing a map for a new neighborhood.

Later, in 1850, a post office opened there, and it was named Easton. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years, until it closed in 1905.

Where is Easton?

Easton is located about 1,000 feet (or 305 meters) above sea level. It's a bit like being on a small hill.
