Francis Edward Corrigan, often called Ed Corrigan, is a British scientist. He is a talented mathematician and a theoretical physicist. He works as a professor at the University of York. He was born on August 10, 1946, in Birkenhead, England. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society, which is a big honor for scientists.

His Early Life and Education

Ed Corrigan went to St Bede's College in Manchester. After that, he studied at the famous University of Cambridge. There, he earned his first degree in 1968. He then completed his PhD in 1972.

His Career and Work

After finishing his studies, Ed Corrigan worked at Durham University. He was a special researcher there from 1972 to 1974. He also worked at CERN, a huge science lab in Europe, from 1974 to 1975.

He continued working at Durham University for many years, from 1976 to 1999. During this time, he even led the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

In 1999, he moved to the University of York. He became the head of the Department of Mathematics there several times. He held this important role from 1999 to 2004, again from 2005 to 2007, and finally from 2011 to 2015.
