Eden is a small, unincorporated community located in Hancock County, Indiana, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place with a shared identity but without its own local government. It's part of Green Township.
History of Eden
When Eden Was Established
Eden was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1835. This process is called "platting," which means creating a detailed map of a piece of land, showing its boundaries and how it's divided into lots.
The Post Office in Eden
Before the community was even platted, a post office was opened in Eden in 1834. This was an important way for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1905.
