Edgar Jones, born on June 17, 1956, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1980 to 1986.

College Basketball Career
When Edgar Jones was in his second year of college, he played basketball for the University of Nevada, Reno. He helped his team, the Nevada Wolf Pack, achieve a winning record of 15 wins and 12 losses. This was their first winning season in eight years!
During his time playing for the Wolf Pack, from 1975 to 1979, Jones scored a total of 1,877 points. This was a school record for the most points ever scored by a player. His record stood for many years until Nick Fazekas broke it on November 18, 2006.
After Edgar Jones finished his college career, the University of Nevada honored him by officially retiring his jersey number, 32. He was the very first Wolf Pack player to receive this special honor.
Professional Basketball Journey
NBA Draft and Early Career
After graduating from college, Edgar Jones was chosen in the 1979 NBA draft. The Milwaukee Bucks picked him in the second round as the 31st overall player.
During his time in the NBA, Jones played for several teams. These included the San Antonio Spurs and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He even took part in the 1984 Slam Dunk Contest in Denver, showing off his amazing jumping skills.
Playing in the CBA
Before joining the NBA, Jones also played for the Lehigh Valley Jets. This team was part of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) during the 1979–80 season.
In that season, Edgar Jones was recognized for his great talent. He was named the CBA Rookie of the Year. He was also chosen for the All-CBA First Team, which means he was one of the best players in the league.
International Play in Greece
Edgar Jones also played professional basketball overseas in the Greek Basket League. He played for the Greek club Panathinaikos Athens from 1988 to 1990.
Later, he joined another Greek team, Aris Thessaloniki, for the 1991–92 season. With Aris, he helped his team win the Greek Cup title in 1992, which was a big achievement!
