Edgar Jones was born on June 17, 1956. He is a retired American professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). His NBA career lasted from 1980 to 1986.
College Basketball Star
Edgar Jones played college basketball for the University of Nevada, Reno. In his second year, he helped the Nevada Wolf Pack get a winning record. This was their first winning season in eight years.
During his time with the Wolf Pack (1975–1979), Jones scored 1,877 points. This was the most points ever scored by a player for the school at that time. His record stood until 2006. The University of Nevada honored him by retiring his jersey number, 32. He was the first Wolf Pack player to receive this special honor.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Edgar Jones was chosen in the 1979 NBA draft. The Milwaukee Bucks picked him as the 31st player overall. During his time in the NBA, he played for teams like the San Antonio Spurs and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In 1984, Jones also took part in the exciting Slam Dunk Contest in Denver. This contest shows off players' amazing dunking skills.
Edgar Jones also played professional basketball in other countries. He played for the Greek team Panathinaikos Athens from 1988 to 1990. He also played for another Greek team, Aris Thessaloniki, in the 1991–92 season. With Aris, he helped them win the Greek Basketball Cup in 1992.
