The Story of Edgewick

How Edgewick Got Its Name

The name "Edgewick" came from two early settlers who helped start the community. Their names were Vinnedge and Weeks. People combined parts of their names to create the unique name for this place.

The Edgewick Post Office

For a short time, Edgewick had its own post office. It opened in 1912, which means people living there could send and receive their mail right in their community. However, the post office didn't stay open for very long. It closed just seven years later, in 1919.

The Boxley Blowout

The community of Edgewick faced a major disaster. The town was completely destroyed by a sudden event known locally as the "Boxley Blowout." This event was a dam burst, which means a dam broke and released a large amount of water very quickly. This powerful flood washed away the entire town.
