Edson Aparecido de Souza, known simply as Edson, is a former Brazilian football player. He was born on November 29, 1962. Edson played as a midfielder during his career. He is well-known for playing many years in Japan.
Playing Career in Japan
Edson moved to Japan to play professional football. He joined a team called Yomiuri. He played for them from 1986 to 1990. During this time, Yomiuri was in the JSL Division 1. This was Japan's top football league back then.
Playing for Shonan Bellmare
After leaving Yomiuri, Edson joined Fujita Industries. This team is now known as Shonan Bellmare. He played for them from 1990 to 1995. He helped them achieve great success.
- In 1991, he helped Fujita Industries get promoted. They moved up from JSL Division 2 to the Japan Football League.
- Later, in 1994, he played for Bellmare Hiratsuka. They were in the J1 League, which is Japan's highest professional football league. Edson played many games for them. He scored several goals as a midfielder.
Later Career
Towards the end of his playing career, Edson joined Yokogawa Electric. He played for this team from 1997 to 2000. He continued to play in various Japanese leagues. He officially retired from playing professional football in 2000.
