Baron Eduard Oleg Alexandrowitsch von Falz-Fein was a very interesting person. He was born on September 14, 1912, and lived until November 17, 2018. He was a businessman, journalist, and sportsman from Liechtenstein, but he was born in Russia.

Eduard von Falz-Fein was known as a "sports diplomat." This means he helped start the Olympic movement in Liechtenstein. He was also the vice president of the Liechtenstein Olympic Committee in the 1930s. His father, Alexander Eduardovich, was an expert in farming. His uncle, Friedrich von Falz-Fein, started the famous Askania-Nova nature reserve. His mother, Vera Nikolaevna, came from a family of important Russian navy generals and admirals.

Eduard von Falz-Fein was born in a place called Gavrilovka. This area was part of the Russian Empire back then. Today, it is in Ukraine.

He loved sports, especially cycling. From 1951 to 1973, he was the President of the Liechtenstein Cycling Association. He helped a lot with cycling in his country.

Eduard von Falz-Fein also helped with important historical research. He provided money for studies that helped identify the remains of the House of Romanov, the former royal family of Russia.

He lived a very long life. On September 14, 2012, he turned 100 years old! When he passed away on November 17, 2018, he was 106 years old. At that time, he was the oldest person living in Liechtenstein. Sadly, he died in a house fire in Vaduz.

He had a cousin, also named Eduard Theodor von Falz-Fein, who was an Olympic bobsledder. They were born in the same year.

Eduard von Falz-Fein received many awards for his work and contributions. These awards came from Liechtenstein, Russia, and Ukraine. They showed how much people appreciated his efforts.

In Liechtenstein, he received the "Golden Laurel" in 2003. This award recognized his great achievements in sports and his service to sports in the country. He was also known as a Baron of Liechtenstein.

From Russia, he received several important awards. These included the Order of Friendship of Peoples and the Order of Honour. These awards were given to him for actively promoting Russian culture in other countries. He also received the Pushkin Medal for helping to save Russia's cultural heritage.

They also thanked him for his work in preserving Ukrainian heritage and supporting the Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve.
