Eduardo Naranjo is a famous Spanish painter. He was born in 1944 in a town called Monesterio, in Spain. His art style is known as 'Neo-Realism'. This means his paintings look very real, almost like photographs.

Early Life and Education

Eduardo Naranjo started his art journey early. In 1957, he met his teacher, Eduardo Acosta. He then joined the School of Arts and Crafts. He studied there until 1960.

Later that same year, he went to the School of Fine Arts of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. In 1961, he moved to Madrid. There, he studied painting at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando.

Artistic Works

Eduardo Naranjo has created many different types of art. He designed the sets for plays, which are called stage designs. Some of these plays include The House of Bernarda Alba by Federico García Lorca. He also worked on Make me a story of the night by Jorge Marquez.

From 1986 to 1991, he worked on a special book. It was a collection of engravings for Lorca's work Poet in New York. Engravings are a type of art made by carving designs into a surface. These artworks were first shown at the Madrid Book Fair in 1987.

Awards and Recognition

Eduardo Naranjo has received many awards for his art. Here are some of them:

  • 1958 – He won a prize for drawing at the School of Arts and Crafts in Seville.
  • 1961 – He received awards for portraits and drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.
  • 1974 – He won the "Premio Luis de Morales" in Badajoz.
  • 1991 – He was honored with the "Today Extremadura" award and the Medal of Extremadura.
  • 1994 – He won the National Print Award María de Salamanca. This was at the Spanish Contemporary Engraving Museum in Marbella.
  • 1995 – He was given the Military Cross. This award recognized his important contributions to the arts and the army.
