Edvaldo Oliveira Chaves (born August 4, 1958, in Nilópolis, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil), is best known as Pita. He is a famous former Brazilian football player. Pita played as an offensive midfielder, which means he helped both defend and score goals. Today, he works as a General Manager for Desportivo Brasil.

Pita's Football Journey
Playing for Top Clubs
Pita had a long and exciting career playing football for many different teams. From 1978 to 1984, he played for Santos FC. After that, he joined São Paulo from 1985 to 1988.
International Experience
Pita also played internationally. He moved to France to play for RC Strasbourg during the 1988–1989 season. Later, he played for Guarani in Brazil from 1989 to 1990.
Playing in Japan
He then went to Japan, where he played for Fujita Industries and Nagoya Grampus Eight between 1990 and 1993. He finished his playing career in 1994 with Inter Limeira in Brazil.
Winning Championships
Pita won several important championships during his career. He helped his teams win the São Paulo State League three times, in 1978, 1985, and 1987. He also won one Brazilian League title in 1986.
Representing Brazil
Pita also played for the Brazil national football team. He played in 7 international games starting from 1980. A big highlight was winning the gold medal at the 1987 Pan American Games with the Brazilian team.
Becoming a Manager
After retiring as a player, Pita became a football manager. He won the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior with São Paulo's youth team in 2000. He also managed the Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan.
