About the Edward Little House
The Edward Little House is located on the west side of Main Street. It stands just south of Auburn's main downtown area. You can find it right at the corner of Vine Street.
What Does It Look Like?
The Edward Little House is a wooden building with two and a half stories. It has five sections across the front. The main entrance is in the middle, with windows on either side. A cool fan-shaped window sits above the door.
A two-story section extends from the back of the house. The inside of the house is very well kept. It still has many original details from the 1800s. For example, there's a beautiful curving staircase in the center.
The house has a typical layout for its time. There's a main hallway in the middle. On the right side, you'll find a double parlor, which is like two living rooms connected. On the left, there's a large dining room. An archway with fancy carvings separates the two parts of the parlor.
Who Was Edward Little?
Edward Little built this house in 1827. He was originally from Newbury, Massachusetts. He moved to Auburn in 1826 and lived there for the rest of his life. Edward Little received a lot of land from his family. This land included big areas in Auburn, Lewiston, and nearby towns.
