He also played for the Canterbury provincial team. He played seven games for them between 1883 and 1886. In 1884, he also played one game for the Wellington team. This was as a "loan player."
Playing for New Zealand
Edward was part of the very first New Zealand national rugby union team. This team went on a special trip to New South Wales in 1884. During this trip, he played in seven out of eight matches. He even scored one "try" in a game.
At that time, New Zealand did not play "Test matches." These are big international games. New Zealand's first official Test match was not until 1903.
A Family of Rugby Players
Edward Bowler Millton and his older brother, William Millton, made history. They were the first brothers ever to play rugby for New Zealand. William was even the captain of the New Zealand team during that 1884 tour.
Later Life and Legacy

In his will, he gave these properties to the Sunlight League of New Zealand. He wanted them to create a special place called the "Ford Millton Memorial Home for Children." This home was meant to help children.
