Serving as a Judge in Nebraska

In 1854, Edward Harden was appointed as a judge for the Territorial Nebraska Supreme Court. This was an important position in the early days of Nebraska. He served on this court for six years, helping to make important legal decisions. His time as a judge ended in 1860.

Involvement in Politics and the Civil War

After his time as a judge, Edward Harden became involved in politics. He was a representative, called a delegate, from Georgia at the 1860 Democratic National Convention. This was a big meeting where political leaders discussed important issues.

Later, he also took part in the American Civil War. He fought for the Confederate States Army. During the war, he showed leadership and reached the rank of colonel.

Later Years as a Judge
