Edward VII Park (which is called Parque Eduardo VII in Portuguese) is a really big public park in Lisbon, Portugal. It covers an area of about 26 hectares (that's like 64 acres!). You can find it just north of Avenida da Liberdade and Marquis of Pombal Square, right in the middle of Lisbon.

Discover Edward VII Park
This beautiful park is a popular spot for both locals and visitors. It's a great place to relax, enjoy nature, and see some interesting sights. The park has a large open space with green lawns and pathways.
Why is it Called Edward VII Park?
The park is named after King Edward VII of the United Kingdom. He visited Portugal in 1903. This visit was very important because it helped make the friendship between the two countries even stronger. It also confirmed the long-standing Anglo-Portuguese Alliance, which is one of the oldest alliances in the world!
Before King Edward's visit, the park was known as Parque da Liberdade, meaning Liberty Park. After his visit, it was renamed to honor him. In 1945, a famous Portuguese architect named Francisco Keil do Amaral redesigned the park to look like it does today.
What Can You See There?
Edward VII Park is home to several cool features:
- Carlos Lopes Pavilion: This building used to be the Portuguese pavilion at a big international fair in Rio de Janeiro in 1922. Now it's located right here in the park.
- Estufa Fria: This is a huge greenhouse garden! It covers about 1.5 hectares (that's over 3.5 acres). Inside, you can find many different kinds of plants from all over the world. It's a fantastic place to explore if you love nature.
- Giant Portuguese Flag: You can often see the largest Portuguese flag in the world flying high at the northern end of the park. It's a truly impressive sight!
Events at the Park
The park isn't just for walking and relaxing. It also hosts important events. Every year, the Lisbon Book Fair takes place in Edward VII Park. It's a great chance to discover new books and meet authors.
