Efraín Alberto Ruales Ríos (born August 31, 1984, in Guayaquil, Ecuador – died January 27, 2021) was a talented Ecuadorian actor, model, musician, and TV host. He was well-known for his roles in shows like Solteros Sin Compromiso, La panadería, and ¡Así Pasa!. He also played popular characters like Lorenzo and Professor Cachimundo on the TV show En contacto de Ecuavisa. Efraín was also a bassist for the bands Equilivre and Rokket.
About Efraín Ruales
Efraín Alberto Ruales Ríos was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on August 31, 1984. When he was younger, he played on the U12 soccer team at the Cristóbal Colón Salesian College. He later studied Business Administration at the Universidad Del Pacífico.
Efraín loved music. He was part of a musical group called Equilivre, where he played the bass guitar. The band also included Erick Mujica, Fernando Escobar, and Daniel Ballesteros. Efraín also worked with Diego Spotorno to create their own company, Raymi Enterprises. This company helped manage their artistic projects. They even put on a comedy show called 2 Solteros en Gira.
TV Shows and Roles
Efraín Ruales started his TV career in 2005. He appeared in the Ecuavisa series Pura Boca and the telenovela Amores que matan. In 2007, he played Benjamin in Solteros sin commitment.
In 2008, his band Equilivre released a music video for their song "Cuéntame." This song was part of their album Together with you. The album featured ten songs that were used in the telenovela El Secreto de Toño Palomino. In this show, Efraín played a baker named Juan. He also played a character named Wacho in The successful Lcdo. Cardoso.
Efraín joined the comedy show La Panadería in 2009. He returned for La Panadería 2 in 2011. On these shows, he played many funny characters like Dr. Malbaso and Prof. Cachimundo.
In 2010, he played a detective named César Muñoz in the TC Televisión soap opera Fanatikda. He then joined the comedy series Condominio in 2011. Later, he became a host on the show De casa en casa.
In April 2012, Efraín joined En Contacto. He brought his popular comedy characters from La Panadería to the show. He also became a main host for En Contacto in May 2012. In 2013, he joined the comedy series ¡Así Pasa! as Eduardo Bayas. He continued to play his well-known characters like El Taita and Lorenzo. That same year, he played Alberto "Beto" in the series Veto al feo, which was based on the famous Colombian telenovela Yo soy Betty, la fea.
His Passing
Efraín Ruales passed away on January 27, 2021, at the age of 36. He was shot while in his car after leaving a gym in Guayaquil.
