Egil Ragnar Monn-Iversen (born April 14, 1928 – died July 7, 2017) was a very important Norwegian musician. He was one of the most influential composers in modern Norway. He played many big roles in Norwegian music, movies, opera, television, and theater.
For a while, he was so important in Norwegian culture that people called him The Godfather. But he always saw himself as a regular musician. Monn-Iversen owned a movie company and a record label. He also had an agency for musical artists. He started the singing group The Monn Keys. He was even the boss at the Chat Noir theater. He led The Norwegian Opera for many years. From the 1960s until he passed away in 2017, he worked for NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) and Det norske teatret (The Norwegian Theatre). He wrote music for over 100 Norwegian movies and TV shows.
Monn-Iversen was married to the Norwegian actor and singer Sølvi Wang. She passed away in 2011.
Egil Monn-Iversen's Work and Leadership
Egil Monn-Iversen started and owned a Norwegian movie studio. It was called EMI Produksjon AS. This studio made more than 20 Norwegian movies.
Monn-Iversen also created the singing group, The Monn Keys. With the group members, he started a company called Egil Monn-Iversen A/S. This company was mostly a music record company. It released music on many different labels. In 1957, this company sold 23% of all music in Norway! "Egil Monn-Iversen A/S" also published music. They even ran jukeboxes across the country. Plus, they produced concerts, movies, and stage shows.
In 1983, Monn-Iversen started Thalia Teater A/S. This company created musicals, comedy shows, and funny plays. They put on these shows in Scandinavia.

- He was a conductor at the Chat Noir Theater in Oslo from 1954 to 1963.
- He became the CEO (boss) of the Chat Noir Theater from 1959 to 1963.
- He was the chairman at The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in Oslo. This was from 1981 to 1996.
- He was the CEO at Chinateatern in Stockholm in 1997.
- He was the head of music at Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. This started in the 1960s.
- He was also the head of music at Det Norske Teatret (The Norwegian Theater). This also started in the 1960s.
