Eiji Hirata (平田 英治, Hirata Eiji, born May 16, 1966) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward during his career.
Playing Career
Eiji Hirata was born in Yamaguchi, Japan, on May 16, 1966. After finishing his studies at Waseda University, he began his professional football journey.
In 1989, he joined a team called Mazda. This club later became known as Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Hirata made his debut in 1990. He played in many matches, sometimes filling in for other players who were injured. His team, Mazda, was promoted to Division 1 at the end of the 1990–91 season.
In 1993, Hirata moved to the Czech Republic. He joined a club there called Švarc Benešov, which played in the Czech 2. Liga.
He returned to Japan in 1994. He then joined his local team, Yamaguchi Teachers, which played in the Japanese Regional Leagues. In 1995, he moved to another Japanese team, Otsuka Pharmaceutical, which was part of the Japan Football League. Hirata played for Otsuka Pharmaceutical until he retired from playing football at the end of the 1998 season.
Coaching Career
After he stopped playing, Eiji Hirata started a new career as a coach. In 1999, he began coaching at Otsuka Pharmaceutical, which later changed its name to Tokushima Vortis. He mainly worked as a coach for the main team. He also managed the youth teams, helping younger players develop their skills.
