El Comercio is a daily newspaper from Spain. It is printed in Gijón, a city in the region of Asturias. It is one of the most popular newspapers in Asturias. About 24,000 copies are printed every day.
History of El Comercio
El Comercio started a long time ago, on September 2, 1878. That makes it one of Spain's older newspapers!
Since 1995, El Comercio has been part of a big media group called Grupo Vocento. This group owns many different newspapers and media companies.
In 1996, El Comercio bought another newspaper called La Voz de Avilés. Now, when you read El Comercio in the city of Avilés, it still uses the name La Voz de Avilés for that special edition.
Back in 2006, El Comercio printed even more copies, around 27,843 each day.
