History of El Piñal
El Piñal began as a new, planned community. A report from 1956 described it as a place with new homes and a health center. The name "El Piñal" means "pineapple field." The town's first full name was San Rafael de El Piñal.
Today, El Piñal continues to develop. It has a local hospital that helps people stay healthy. Some farmers in the area grow cocoa. El Piñal is about 35 kilometers (around 22 miles) from San Cristobal, which is the capital city of Táchira state. Two rivers meet near El Piñal, which is helpful for farming. People have also invested in plants that process yuca and in raising cattle for milk and food.
