El Piñón is a lively town and a 'municipality' in the beautiful Magdalena Department of Colombia. A municipality is like a local government area, similar to a county or district. It was officially started way back in 1760 by people like Francisco Sayas, Ignacio Crespo, and Vicente De la Hoz. Later, on April 20, 1915, it officially became a municipality.
Most people in El Piñón work in agriculture, which means growing crops, and farming, which is raising animals. This helps the town's economy.
El Piñón also has some cool places to visit. The Iglesia San Pedro Mártir (Saint Peter the Martyr Church) is a main attraction. You can also see the impressive Ave Maria Monument.
The town loves to celebrate! They have fun carnivals and special days like the Saint Peter of Verona Day in April. In September, they celebrate El Milagroso. Music and poetry are also important, with festivals like the Unedited Song Festival and the Decimates Festival.
