About Elastinen
Early Life and Interests
Kimmo Laiho was born and grew up in Helsinki, Finland. He started learning to play the guitar when he was seven years old. When he was 11, he began dancing. He was part of well-known break-dance groups like IMC and Savage Feet.
At 15, his older brother gave him a hip-hop cassette. This inspired Kimmo to write his first rap lyrics. He joined a musical called "Colorblind," which was about being against racism. There, he met Iso H, who would become his music partner.
Starting with Fintelligens
In the summer of 1997, Elastinen and Iso H created their rap duo, Fintelligens. Elastinen was only 18 when they got their first record deal.
Elastinen finished his studies at Sibelius Academy, a music school, in 2000. That same year, Fintelligens released their first album, "Renesanssi". Elastinen produced about one-third of the songs on this album. "Renesanssi" was very popular and earned a gold record. In autumn 2001, Elastinen and Iso H released their second album, Tän Tahtiin. This album also went gold, and Elastinen helped produce some of its songs.
In 2002, Elastinen joined the military service. Even then, he continued to perform shows with Iso H in his free time. Fintelligens released their third album, Kokemusten Summa, in November 2002. This album also went gold, and Elastinen produced every song on it.
His Solo Music Career
Elastinen released his first solo album, "Elaksis Kivi," in 2004. In 2006, he finished his second album, Anna Soida. The first song from this album, which had the same name, became a big hit.
His third album, E.L.A., came out in November 2007. The first single from it, "Ovet Paukkuu," reached number one on a Finnish radio station called NRJ. It was also played a lot on Finnish MTV and The Voice.
He then released Joka päivä koko päivä in 2013, which reached number 4 on the charts. His album Elastinen feat. came out in 2016 and went straight to number 1. Before this album, there was a TV show where Elastinen worked with a different musician in each episode.
