About Charles Eliot and the Bridge

The bridge was made from granite. This stone was taken from local quarries. It was finished around 1905 or 1906. The bridge has a bench built into it. It also has a special plaque to remember Eliot. This bridge crosses a small valley. It is a very strong and large structure for its location.

Where the Bridge is Located

The Eliot Memorial Bridge is close to the Great Blue Hill Observation Tower. This tower is near the 635-foot (194 m) summit of Great Blue Hill. The bridge is also a short distance from the Blue Hill Meteorological Observatory. This observatory is at the very top of the mountain.
