Elise D'Elboux (born 1870, died 1956) was a talented British artist. She was known for her beautiful paintings and for creating illustrations for books and magazines.

Elise D'Elboux was born and grew up in Southampton, England. Her parents were Mary Jane and Walter D'Elboux. Her father, Walter, was also an artist. He worked with the Ordnance Survey, which creates maps.

Her Art Education

Elise first had private lessons in Southampton. She then went to Hartley College in her hometown. Later, she moved to London to study art at the Regent Street Polytechnic.

She also traveled to Paris, France, to study at the famous Académie Julian. This art school was known for teaching many important artists.

After her time in Paris, Elise returned to London. From 1896 to 1899, she studied at the Royal College of Art (RCA). While at the RCA, she was very successful. She won national awards and even a special silver medal from the college.

Her Career as an Artist and Teacher

Throughout her career, Elise D'Elboux worked with many different art materials. She created various types of paintings. She was also a skilled illustrator, drawing pictures for many publications.

Elise also shared her knowledge by teaching art. She held several teaching jobs. Her most important teaching roles were with the London County Council and at the Royal College of Art (RCA) where she had once been a student.

Where Her Art Appeared

Elise D'Elboux created illustrations for several well-known publications. These included magazines like The Girl's Realm, Century, Young Folks, and Young England.

Her paintings were shown in important art galleries and exhibitions. She exhibited her work at the Royal Academy in London. Her art was also displayed at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. She showed her work with the Royal Society of British Artists and with many local art groups in southern England.

Today, you can find examples of her artwork in the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts.
