The Story of Elle

Elle's Big Dream

Elle Daniels (Ashlee Hewitt) has always dreamed of being a famous singer and songwriter. She plans to audition for the Berklee College of Music. But then, something sad happens. The plane her parents are on crashes.

Heartbroken, Elle moves in with her uncle Allen (Thomas Calabro). Allen runs a small music company called Spunn Records.

A New Job at Spunn Records

Uncle Allen offers Elle a job as an intern. This means she has to help Spunn's main music group, Sensation. Sensation is a pop trio led by Stephanie (Katherine Bailess). Elle tries to forget her own dreams for a while.

She becomes good friends with another intern named Kit (Juliette Hing-Lee). Elle spends her days calling radio stations and running errands for the company.

Ty Parker Arrives

One day, a very famous pop singer named Ty Parker (Sterling Knight) comes to Spunn Records. He says he wants to try something new with his music. He is even ready for his fans to be surprised. Allen suggests Ty sing a duet with Kandi Kane. Kandi is a British pop star with many online hits. Ty agrees to think about it.

The Secret Singer

Kit encourages Elle to start singing again. Elle gives herself a new look and goes to the recording studio. She sings a song called "Love is with Me Now." Ty hears her singing. He thinks she is Kandi Kane and is amazed by her voice.

Elle is surprised and happy, so she pretends to be Kandi. She leaves at midnight after getting a text from her uncle. Elle then realizes she accidentally recorded over Sensation's new song. She feels bad for lying to Ty. So, Elle starts hiding and wears silly disguises.

Ty is excited to sign with Spunn Records. But he is shocked when he meets the real Kandi. She looks nothing like the girl he heard singing. Ty gets upset and tells Allen he wants what he really wants.

Finding the Truth

Ty is determined to find the girl he met. He tries to find her with help from TJ (Brandon Mychal Smith). But he doesn't succeed. Stephanie finds out that the song was Elle's. Sensation and Kandi team up to cause trouble for Elle.

Kit tells Elle to take a chance on love. With help from Kit's friend Andy (Shawn Caulin-Young), Elle sings the song she performed in the studio. Ty hears her sing. Sensation and Kandi insult Elle, saying she is just an obsessed fan. But Ty walks out and comforts Elle. They start dating.

Ty helps Elle believe in her talent. He tells her that her parents' death was not her fault. Allen also tells Elle he admired her parents. He says the song she recorded was "beautiful." He also remembers that he wanted to make music, not just money.

Happy Ever After?

Everything seems fine. Ty convinces Elle to audition for Berklee again. They write a song together called "Fairytale." But then Kandi comes back. She wants the song for herself. She threatens Ty to leave Elle or she will cause big trouble for everyone. Ty calls her a horrible person but agrees to break up with Elle to protect her.

Elle is heartbroken and misunderstands everything. Kit and Andy decide to investigate. They hear the receptionist call Kandi "Miss Smirkle." Andy is nervous, but Kit kisses him for support. He becomes brave.

Andy pretends to deliver pastries to Kandi at the studio. This gives Kit time to sneak into the room. Kit is shocked to find out that Kandi is actually Brenda Smirkle. Brenda is just an average girl pretending to be Kandi to make money. She is not even British!

Kit records proof of Brenda's secret. She shows it to Allen. Allen tells Brenda to leave before he reports her for pretending to be someone else. He also stops working with Sensation because they helped Brenda. Stephanie tries to argue, but Kit reveals that Stephanie is bald. Stephanie and the other girls run away in horror.

Ty rushes to Elle's audition. He arrives just as she is frozen on stage. He plays guitar for her, and she sings "Fairytale" beautifully. The judges are amazed. She is accepted to Berklee right away. Elle forgives Ty after the performance. They share a long, heartfelt kiss. Elle says that fairy tales do exist.

The film ends with colorful credits. The song "Happily Ever After" by Ashlee Hewitt plays. It shows what happened to all the main characters. Elle graduated from Berklee. Ty's album sold very well. Brenda (Kandi) disappeared after trying to pretend to be another pop star. Stephanie became a wig model. Jamie and Becky worked for Lady Gaga. Kit and Andy were happily together with their own detective agency.
