Elliot, also sometimes called Eliot Siding, was once a small settlement in Alameda County, California. It is no longer an active town or community today. Elliot was located near the tracks of the Southern Pacific Railroad.

Where Was Elliot Located?

Elliot was situated about 4 miles (or about 6.4 kilometers) west of a larger city called Livermore. It sat at an elevation of 374 feet (which is about 114 meters) above sea level. This means it was quite a bit higher than the ocean.

What Happened to Elliot?

Elliot was known as a "former settlement." This means it was once a place where people lived and worked, but it is not anymore. The name Elliot could still be found on maps as late as 1906. After this time, it likely faded away, perhaps as people moved to bigger towns or as the railroad's importance changed. Many small settlements like Elliot became "ghost towns" when their main purpose, like a railroad stop or a mining camp, was no longer needed.
